A recent survey conducted by Durex found that found that 53% of 16-25-year-olds regularly use emojis when discussing sex. And that 84% actually found it more comfortable to discuss sex in this way. The habitual use of emojis in a sexual context has meant that certain emoji combinations have become commonly used to symbolise sex acts. Our idea was to take these well-known combinations and change them to bring to life the horrifying symptoms of common STIs. Doing so allowed us to communicate with this age group about sex in the language that they already use.
